Introduce A Bit Of Variety to Your Summer Travel

I’d like to make a suggestion for a summer vacation travel destination where you can find a great deal of variety in the type of local attractions offered.  Summer vacation travel means different things to different people, that’s for sure.  Some of us want to visit Disneyland and some just want to relax on the beach.  Others love to see historical sites and still others love to play golf.

One of the first places one thinks of in terms of Southern California vacation destinations is the Resort devoted to California Adventure, Downtown Disney and, of course, Disneyland.

Anyone who has not visited Anaheim in awhile will be surprised at its evolution over time.  California Adventure exhibits the diversity of California culture, from citrus orchards to downtown Los Angeles to the northern California Wine Country.  You will observe an international blend of cultures in the visitors at the parks and at Downtown Disney.  It is a great place for people watching—a veritable cultural melting pot.

There are not a lot of other places in the world where you’ll find such a complex melting pot of nationalities as in Southern California.  Although there are often visitors from Europe, Africa and Asia, the countries along the Pacific Ocean are particlularly well represented.

Along with visits to theme parks and the beach, it may be worthwhile to visit some of the permanent ethnic communities spread around Orange and Los Angeles counties in particular.  In Los Angeles County the obvious targest would be Koreatown, west of downtown, Little Tokyo to the west and Chinatown just north of the central business district.  Orange County is home to Little Saigon and Fourth Street in downtown Santa Ana.
